THE PLOT: On the death of Sir Roderick Lyall, his rather eccentric family congregate at their ancestral Irish mansion. The last will and testament is read. But everyone is shocked to hear that once debts are paid nothing remain. Ballyroden Hall is the only asset. Half the family are in favour of turning the mansion into bit of a money spinner, a guest house. but Uncle Hercules and Consuelo endeavour to sabotage the scheme. Concurrently, Aunt Anna Rose insists she has mislaid a fortune in jewels – but her story is doubted due to her eccentric personality. When the first paying guests arrive for their holiday, expecting peace and quiet, they find themselves caught up in a series of farcical situations caused by their hosts.
Treasure Hunt was made into a 1952 film directed by John Paddy Carstairs and starring Martita Hunt, Jimmy Edwards, Naunton Wayne, Athene Seyler, Alfie Bass and Irene Handle.
